Grudge Style Photo Effect in Photoshop

A quick photoshop tutorial on applying grudge effect on a photo.

Step 1:

Start with a new file with the photo you want to add a grudge style effect on. Make sure the photo is in a new layer and not the background of your canvas.

Step 2:

Duplicate the photo layer then go to Filter > Pixelate > Color Halfton, add the settings below.

Result:

Step 3:

Turn the image into black and white by going to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

Step 4:

Set the layer’s blending mode to Color Burn.

Results:

Nice effect, i like it. However, would have been better if you added in the step to tell newbies that you cut the original text out again and put it back on the top.
